Las escalas mayores siguen un orden de aparición denominado círculo de quintas. Este círculo de quintas tiene un sentido ascendente (ciclo ascendente) y un sentido descendente. En este capítulo exploraremos el ciclo ascendente.
Para comenzar el ciclo de escalas ascendentes nuestro punto de partida será la escala de Do Mayor
Primer paso del ciclo
[editar]Para el primer paso del ciclo, tomaremos la escala de Do Mayor que, como se ha estudiado en los capítulos anteriores, tiene dos tetracordios con la misma estructura (Tono - Tono - semitono). Si tomamos el segundo tetracordio y lo copiamos en un nuevo pentagrama, lo podremos usar como base para construir una nueva escala: la escala de Sol Mayor.

Ya tenemos el primer tetracordio de la escala de Sol Mayor, sólo falta añadir un segundo tetracordio conservando la estructura diatónica (Tono - Tono - semitono). Para conservar esta estructura es necesario ascender la séptima nota en un semitono cromático, es decir, el Fa pasa a ser Fa♯, como se muestra a continuación:

Segundo paso del ciclo
[editar]Para el segundo paso del ciclo, usaremos la escala de Sol Mayor. Si tomamos el segundo tetracordio y lo copiamos en un nuevo pentagrama, lo podremos usar como base para construir una nueva escala: la escala de Re Mayor.

Ejercicios
[editar]Ya conoces los primeros dos pasos del ciclo, el resto de los pasos son exactamente iguales.
Ejercicio: Completa el ciclo de escalas ascendentes comenzando por la escala de Do Mayor hasta llegar a la escala de Do♯ Mayor (Do sostenido Mayor).
Algunas consideraciones:
- La escala de Do Mayor no lleva ninguna alteración.
- La escala de Do♯ Mayor lleva siete sostenidos (todas sus notas son sostenidas).
- Siguiendo el ciclo obtendrás un total de ocho escalas.
- Cada escala tendrá un sostenido más que la anterior
